This is one of my favorite parts of that movie. To see each of the characters move from the joy at finally achieving victory to the realization that that victory most likely means their friend is dead is so human, and so powerful, and so important. The truth that victory for all is a little darkened by the loss of one who sacrificed in order to achieve it.
